Is there any reason why I should go for the Garritan? I've never tried them out, and I'm new to music producing, which is why I'm not sure that I'll mess up and will run into issues if I don't get this one. It's got a soul that the CFX doesn't have, it's got it's own personality. I can't tell why, but I feel like I'm not listening to a computer generated/sampled sound. Ravenscroft sounds to me like a real piano though. I can't say there is anything wrong, but I can't say there's anything special either. Nothing special about the CFX, just one of many pianos out there, at least on this VST. I think they did a superb job sampling this piano, which is why I think it's more suitable for what I want? Unfortunately, it sounds to me a bit like a stock piano. Some tracks will sounds a bit more 'atmospheric' (quite a trend these days), some will sound more real and straight from the piano, more intimate and 'honest'. I'll be recording in midi, then I want to tweak the sound depending on the kind of music I'm making. I'm looking into something that's specially suitable for studio recording. Also into Pianoteq, but somehow this one sounds to me somehow artificial (specially long notes, lol), even if I really value the variety of instruments they offer. Hi, I've been looking mainly into these two VSTs.
